About TourAI
The story behind TourAI
Why we build, how we think about schools, and what comes next.
Built by Julian and Calvin at CSB Amsterdam
The personal story behind TourAI: why two students started building a 3D campus with an AI guide schools can place on their own website.
Where it started
We are students at CSB Amsterdam. We watched open days and campus discovery fail people who live too far away, cannot make the date, or leave with only surface-level subject answers. TourAI started as a practical response: scan the school, make it explorable in 3D, add an AI guide layer, and put the experience on the school’s own site. Light PWS research context helped us stay honest about privacy and what schools should (and should not) collect.
Why now
Schools already market online, but remote visitors still cannot feel campus space or ask a guide that knows subjects. Modern 3D capture plus conversational AI finally make an interactive, branded discovery layer realistic. Without pretending a scanner alone is the product.
What most demos miss
A pretty walkthrough is not enough. Families need personalization, subject depth, and an embed that looks like the school. Scanner rent or buy only enables the capture. The product is the always-on experience admissions can publish.
Dual builders on purpose
TourAI is not a solo founder myth. Julian and Calvin build side by side: campus experience, AI layer, and school-facing embed. We want partners in admissions and communications who will pilot one page with real families. We want schools willing to pilot one page with real families.
School obsession
We talk to people who run discovery: admissions, communications, leadership, and families who need more than one open-day weekend. Features on this page map to that gap. Distance, timing, subject depth, branding, and embed - not fake partnerships.
What is still hard
Getting a first campus page live takes coordination: scan quality, AI context schools trust, and branding that fits. We are early, honest about privacy, and focused on pilots that schools can actually publish.
North star
Make interactive AI campus discovery normal for schools that care about reach and clarity. Starting in Amsterdam, growing through Dutch schools and European education, then into broader markets when the core experience is solid.
Who builds it
- Julian Schoonhoven (H5D) and Calvin Wen (H5C) build TourAI together. Dual builders, shared product ownership.
- Privacy-conscious research informs how personalization questions and visitor input are framed.
- Commercial product tone: ship a usable school experience, not a concept video forever.
Facts, not fluff
- Building TourAI as dual founders at CSB Amsterdam (H5D & H5C)
- Product focus: 3D campus explore, AI guide, subject specialists, widget embed
- Privacy research mindset carried from school project context into product decisions
- Dutch National Champion, Junior Men's 16 Quadruple Sculls (KNRB, 2026). One track record fact, not the main story
Plan a pilot
Bring your campus discovery constraints. No invented KPIs. No fake prices.
Roadmap
Prove the experience on one campus first, then expand carefully through Dutch schools and European education.
- 01done
First campus concept
Shape TourAI around real secondary-school discovery needs. Scan, 3D, AI guide, embed.
- NLnext
Dutch schools
Pilot branded campus experiences with NL admissions and communications teams who need reach beyond open days.
- EUnext
European education
Extend the same Scan → AI layer → Embed model to more European schools with privacy-conscious defaults.
- Depthnext
Richer subject layers
Grow specialist AI depth, branding controls, and embed workflows without inventing partnership claims.
- Widernext
Broader markets
Carry the TourAI pattern into additional education contexts once NL and EU school pilots are solid.
